Our Story - Where Passion meets Purpose
Nemophilist Travel was born from a shared love for nature, photography, and the untamed beauty of India. It all started with three friends who spent their early years exploring forests, capturing wildlife through their lenses, and falling in love with the quiet magic of the wild.
Though life led them into careers in finance and technology, the call of the jungle never faded. The noise of boardrooms couldn’t match the thrill of a tiger’s roar or the stillness of a misty morning in the forest. Eventually, they chose to return to what moved them most—and to share it with others.
Today, Nemophilist Travel curates personalised wildlife and cultural tours that reflect a passion for India’s landscapes, heritage, and people. Every journey is crafted with purpose, guided by expertise, and rooted in respect for the natural world and the communities who care for it.
Meet the Team
Muzaffar Shaikh
Naturalist | Author | Conservation Communicator | Co-Founder (Australia)
Muzaffar is the heart and mind behind The Nemophilist. With over a decade of experience working in India’s wild spaces, he has authored multiple biodiversity field guides — including the acclaimed “Field Guide to the Biodiversity of Manas National Park”, “Butterflies of Kanha”, and “Birds of Manas”. His deep roots in fieldwork and species documentation across parks like Manas, Kanha, Kanhargaon, Tadoba, and Jalgaon have made him a key conservation voice in India.
But Muzaffar also brings rare operational expertise — he is the Director of Sauce Consulting India, where he’s helped build and scale IT delivery operations and governance frameworks across international projects. This dual identity — as both strategist and naturalist — gives The Nemophilist its strong backbone of reliability, transparency, and precision.
He personally leads many of our tours and biodiversity projects, and is deeply involved in community conservation, training programs, and regional awareness campaigns.
Siddhartha Sharma
Avian Taxonomy Expert | Birdwatcher | Conservation Commentator | Co-Founder (India)
Siddhartha is where precision meets passion. A senior banking executive and Vice President at one of India’s top banks, he brings strategic clarity and logistical foresight to The Nemophilist’s operations.
But his truest passion lies in ornithology, especially field identification, behavior, and avian taxonomy. A respected birder and citizen scientist, Siddhartha has spent over 15 years documenting bird species across India’s diverse ecosystems — from the wetlands of Bharatpur to the forests of the Western Ghats and Brahmaputra valley.
He has won multiple birding and nature photography awards, and his insights on wildlife conservation and the ecological role of avifauna have been featured in national publications, magazines, and television channels. His writing and interviews emphasize not just species sightings, but the interconnectedness of birds, ecosystems, and rural communities.

Driven by a deep love for India—its wild spaces, rich culture, and timeless traditions—I joined Nemophilist Travel to share the magic that has inspired me for years. From ancient temples to remote forests, every corner of this country holds a story, and I’m passionate about helping others experience it with authenticity, care, and wonder.
Tejas Bhagwat
Conservation Biologist (PhD) | Travel Consultant & Organizer (Germany)
Tejas Bhagwat is a conservation scientist with expertise in global change ecology and biogeography. At the Nemophilist, he works towards bridging the gap between ecological research and eco-tourism, highlighting that sustainable and inclusive biodiversity conservation must integrate both. His research spans diverse ecosystems—from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and the Amazon to the steppe grasslands of Central Asia and the savannas of the Indian subcontinent.
His scientific contributions have been published in leading international journals, including Global Change Biology, Ecological Applications, Nature Communications Biology, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, and PLOS One.
Well traveled and currently based in Germany, Tejas combines his scientific background with passion for biodiversity conservation. He coordinates and curates tours from Germany while serving as a scientific advisor for biodiversity initiatives with The Nemophilist.
Abhay Uzagare
Senior Naturalist | State Wildlife Board Member | Community Biodiversity Leader
Abhay is a stalwart of Maharashtra’s conservation movement. As the Founder of N.E.W. Conserver Jalgaon, he has led wildlife education and biodiversity action programs for nearly three decades. He has served as a non-government member of the Maharashtra State Wildlife Board, contributing to a 10-year forest and wildlife action plan across the state.
Abhay’s core expertise lies in field ecology, biodiversity assessments, and community-led conservation.
He has worked with forest departments, school children, gram panchayats, and policymakers — bridging the gap between science and the ground reality.
He continues to lead large-scale faunal surveys (such as for railway corridor impact zones) and conducts regular training for forest guides and frontline staff — including the training modules in Manas and Kanhargaon. He is also an appointed Non-Government Member of the Maharashtra State Wildlife Board, directly contributing to the 10-Year Wildlife & Forest Action Plan (2021–2031) for the state.
